HOW AND WHEN TO ENROL
To ensure the safety of our staff and students and to manage the number of people on campus in a Covid-safe manner during this busy period, it is our intention to enrol as many students as possible online. You can find out if you’re eligible for online enrolment on our How to Enrol page.
If you are eligible to complete your enrolment online, you will receive a unique username and password via letter and email. This will allow you to sign in to access your online enrolment dashboard.
Online enrolment for this course opens on the following dates:
12th August

INDUCTION
The enrolment process will be complete once you have attended Bishop Burton for your induction sessions, which will be the week commencing 6th September 2021.
The days that you are expected to be on campus for your induction sessions will be the same as your normal timetable. This will be sent to you via post after you have enrolled.
At induction, students will receive their ID badge, a copy of their Learner Agreement and details about how to access your college email account, including your username and password.
The college has its own Learning Resource Centre that houses an extensive collection of books and journals which all students have access to in both a physical and online copy.

Your course is vocational and as such you will have the opportunity to visit a range of uniformed public services, notably the police services, to gain a valuable insight into the roles and opportunities within each service. This includes guest speakers and visits to and from the members of the uniformed public services, a one day personal development, team building and development visit in addition to a range of other off-site visits and expeditions linked to your programme of study.
Throughout the duration of your first year, there are three compulsory visits, each of which cost £20. Information on how to pay for each of these visits/ expeditions will be provided during induction week.
We also have excellent links with a wide range of employers in the public service industry, notably the police service, where you can discover a future career by taking part in a wide range of trips and visits. We also arrange a wide range of trips, including:
Practical visits and exercises with the fire, ambulance and police emergency services, experiences with the RAF, the Army, the Royal Marines and the Navy in addition to a vast array of outdoor adventurous activities including kayaking, rock climbing and fell walking to name just a few.
As part of the course students also take part in work experience/volunteering opportunities within a range of different uniformed services
Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.
For your course, you will need:
Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments.
Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils.
USB pen drive (for saving your work).
Sports kit for both indoor and outdoor activities in all weathers. College branded hooded jumper (Policing option) which will be available to try on during induction week for sizing.
Waterproof outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for all weather conditions.
Walking boots.
Towel and shower gel for post-practical showering.
