You will undertake a number of interesting and relevant trips and visits as part of your equine degree programme. These include a range of equine enterprises, veterinary centres and specialist conferences. Some visits may be free, but others will incur a charge varying with the nature of the visit and the distance travelled. Such charges will be kept to a reasonable rate, and may include a contribution payment from £5 upwards to cover part of the cost.
All foundation degree students have a commitment to undertake work based learning during their programme, both weekly at the college's equine centre and in the equine industry on placement, collectively providing a vocational opportunity for developing essential practical and academic skills. Students are expected to find their own placements at a related industry and a minimum of 80 hours on placement must be completed in the first year.
As part of your work experience module, you will need to be available on either Saturday 3 October or Sunday 4 October to complete your compulsory British Eventing Horse Trials day.
The college has a strict policy in place when approving work placements – students must not commence placement until they have received notification of approval by the college.
Before you begin your programme, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.
