To ensure the safety of our staff and students and to manage the number of people on campus in a Covid-safe manner during this busy period, it is our intention to enrol as many students as possible online. You can find out if you’re eligible for online enrolment on our How to Enrol page.
If you are eligible to complete your enrolment online, you will receive a unique username and password via letter and email. This will allow you to sign in to access your online enrolment dashboard.
Online enrolment for this course opens on the following dates:

If you are not eligible for online enrolment or need extra support, please call 01964 553000 to book an appointment to enrol on campus.
The enrolment process will be complete once you have attended Bishop Burton for your induction sessions, which will be the week commencing 6th September 2021.
The days that you are expected to be on campus for your induction sessions will be the same as your normal timetable. This will be sent to you via post after you have enrolled.
At induction, students will receive their ID badge, a copy of their Learner Agreement and details about how to access your college email account, including your username and password.
The college has its own Learning Resource Centre that houses an extensive collection of books and journals so you will not be required to purchase any books in advance. However, from time to time, it’s useful to have access to your own copies. The below list outlines the books that are worth having your own copy of:

Highly trained subject specialists and outstanding resources underpin what is a fast growing and very successful area. Students will focus on areas such as engine technology, Inspect and Test, Diagnostics and Health and Safety to name but a few. Employability skills and new work placement requirements (see below) are some of the themes for learners undertaking land based engineering, which allows learners to develop practical and theory skills in equil measures.
Employer involvement is a formal component of Technical qualifications and it is a mandatory requirement that all learners must
meet. This will comprise of 315 hours of placement in an area linked to the selected programme of study. Its essential that you locate and secure a placement as the employer will be involved in your overall course achievement.
Previous students have gone on placements at land-based industries such as a tractor / farming machinery dealership or on an actual farm, etc.
It can be completed on a weekly basis on days when you are not required at college and/or in a block during holiday periods.
Throughout the course, you will get the opportunity to go on a range of visits. You will get plenty of notice of these visits and trips so that you save for them, although we try and keep them as cheap as possible.
Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.
For your course, you will need:
One pair of steel toe cap boots
Safety goggles (clear)
One pair of college-branded overalls (NB: these must be cotton)
All other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided
Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments
Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils
USB pen drive (for saving your work)
Please note – you will not be allowed to take part in workshop activities if you fail to have your boots and overalls with you.
