HOW AND WHEN TO ENROL

To ensure the safety of our staff and students and to manage the number of people on campus in a Covid-safe manner during this busy period, it is our intention to enrol as many students as possible online. You can find out if you’re eligible for online enrolment on our How to Enrol page.

If you are eligible to complete your enrolment online, you will receive a unique username and password via letter and email. This will allow you to sign in to access your online enrolment dashboard.

Online enrolment for this course opens on the following dates:

12th August

Please note: Access to your personal online enrolment dashboard will only be available from the date stated above.

If you are not eligible for online enrolment or need extra support, please call 01964 553000 to book an appointment to enrol on campus.

INDUCTION

The enrolment process will be complete once you have attended Bishop Burton for your induction sessions, which will be the week commencing 6th September 2021.

The days that you are expected to be on campus for your induction sessions will be the same as your normal timetable. This will be sent to you via post after you have enrolled.

At induction, students will receive their ID badge, a copy of their Learner Agreement and details about how to access your college email account, including your username and password.

To add even more value to your course we’ll provide opportunities for you to complete work experience and take part in workshops while you’re with us, to prepare you for future employment.

It’ll be hard work, but we will challenge you and support you to achieve to your potential – and beyond. Visiting speakers, study visits and catering events are crucial to the way we deliver our course. We want you to have an exciting experience which really prepares you for your next steps in the catering and hospitality industry.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • White chef’s jacket
  • Chef’s trousers
  • Hat
  • Suitable closed-in shoes for indoor wear such as chefs’ clogs. Please note; no canvas shoes will be permitted
  • To meet food safety regulations you will not be allowed to wear jewellery, nail polish, heavy make up or heavy deodorant and perfume are not allowed to be worn in the kitchens
  • Plastic containers and plastic bags to carry prepared dishes home from college
  • Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments.
  • Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils
  • USB pen drive (for saving your work)
  • A digital camera or smartphone for taking photos of your practical work
  • If you have your own laptop you may find it useful to bring this to college on some days.
