We try to relate our course to the world of work through engaging projects which reflect the realities of travel and tourism environments. We’ll encourage and prepare you to progress into higher education, if you choose.
Your course will include a work experience in both the first and second year of study. Your work placement will be tailor made to suit your career aspirations. Previous student placements include event management companies, hotel, leisure and spa resorts, rural tourism organisations, visitor attractions, transport companies such as cruise and airline companies, travel agents and tourist information centres.
We also encourage students to gain part-time work experience whilst they’re on the course – hospitality, retail, customer service and volunteering all offer opportunities to develop useful skills and attributes. We’ll take you on a range of visits to support your studies, however you’ll get plenty of notice of these activities so that you can budget accordingly, although most of these involve no cost as we utilise our many industry contacts.
For selected programmes students will have the opportunity to participate in an Industry Placement. This will comprise of 315 hours of placement in an area linked to the selected programme of study. If this is the case, your course manager will contact you in due course to discuss further.
Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.
For your course, you will need:
