HOW AND WHEN TO ENROL

To ensure the safety of our staff and students and to manage the number of people on campus in a Covid-safe manner during this busy period, it is our intention to enrol as many students as possible online. You can find out if you’re eligible for online enrolment on our How to Enrol page.

If you are eligible to complete your enrolment online, you will receive a unique username and password via letter and email. This will allow you to sign in to access your online enrolment dashboard.

If you do not receive this information by Monday 10th August, please contact the college on 01964 553000.

Online enrolment for this programme opens on the following dates:

  • Year 1 students: 13th August 2020
  • Year 2 students: 24th August 2020

Please note: Access to your personal online enrolment dashboard will only be available from the date stated above.

If you are not eligible for online enrolment or need extra support, please call 01964 553000 to book an appointment to enrol on campus.

INDUCTION

The enrolment process will be complete once you have attended your online induction session, which will take place on the following dates:

  • Year 1 students: Thursday 17th September, 6pm - 8pm (University of Huddesfield)
  • Year 2 students: TBC

Please bring your own device if you have one.

At induction, students will receive their ID badge, a copy of their Learner Agreement and details about how to access their college email account, including their username and password (which they can change if they wish at a later date).

This programme uses a blended learning approach, which is a combination of face to face sessions and online activities. Together they meet the degree learning outcomes. Teaching and learning methods include:

  • A face to face induction at your chosen centre of study
  • A ‘flipped classroom’ approach which requires you to complete pre- and post- day school online activities
  • Social networking and virtual classrooms to present, discuss and share ideas
  • Attendance at module day schools at University of Huddersfield. you also receive tutor support at your centre.

These sessions include tutor input, group work and discussions around the assignments;

  • Face to face or online tutorials with your centre tutor. These tutorials are both academic and pastoral and are scheduled into the calendar for the academic year
  • Critical friendship group activities to explore ideas and concepts from the modules you are studying
  • Teaching and learning festivals in each year of the programme.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • A tablet, laptop or stationery to take notes in lectures and seminars
  • USB stick and / or portable hard drive.
